Your Dog: A Good Friend, Indeed

Happy Martin Luther King Day! In honor of Reverend King, I present this post about good friends who provide us the help we need.
I received a very touching e-mail from Pete Dowan, a songwriter who is disabled. He states that when his condition was first diagnosed, he needed a little help each day to keep going. His poodle/chihuahua mix, Scuttle, provided motivation for him to get out and walk everyday. When Scuttle passed away at the age of 17, Pete wrote this song in his memory – it’s absolutely beautiful! Â
Pete asks that we don’t share the song file, but you purchase it on iTunes or Amazon, using the following links:

GOOD FRIEND
1st VERSE:
How I wish I had a friend like you.
Someone I could tell my troubles to.
Someone who won’t laugh and call me fool.
A good friend like you.
2nd VERSE:
Every afternoon we share a walk.
Just a couple times around the block.
You’re so patient while I talk and talk.
A good friend like you.
CHORUS:
GOOD FRIEND, EVERYBODY NEEDS A
GOOD FRIEND, LIFE IS FULL OF WEEDS
WITHOUT A REAL GOOD FRIEND.
3rd VERSE:
Time is all I have to spend on you.
You appreciate it when I do.
Make me feel I’m extra special too.
A good friend like you.
CHORUS:
GOOD FRIEND, EVERYBODY NEEDS A
GOOD FRIEND, LIFE IS FULL OF WEEDS
WITHOUT A REAL GOOD FRIEND.
BRIDGE:
So hard to find. With you around I can just take my time.
You’ll be my friend until the end. But I need the two-leggèd kind.
4th VERSE:
How I wish I had a friend like you
Something less would really never do
They have got a lot to live up to
A good friend like you.
CHORUS:
GOOD FRIEND, EVERYBODY NEEDS A
GOOD FRIEND, LIFE IS FULL OF WEEDS
WITHOUT A REAL GOOD FRIEND.. WITHOUT A REAL GOOD FRIEND
