Tuesday’s Top Ten: Reasons to Use New Doggie Forums & Directories

February 3, 2009 · Print This Article

This week, doggies.com premiers two new features:  forums  and directories  Read below for all the great reasons you should check them out!

10.  The directories are searchable – find providers for all sorts of dog-related services in your area.

9.  The forums are written by the people for the people.  Look here to find information on the items that interest you, written by the experts – you!

8.  The directory gives a full web-page ad to each service or product provider related to dogs.

7.  You can search just for vets in your area, if that is your need, via our directories page.

6.  Other categories of search available in the directories are boarding kennels, grooming, dog-sitting, and training.

5.  We have example pages to give you an idea of what to write if you want to feature your business on the site.

4.  The forums give you a chance to speak your mind.

3.  The forums give you a place to meet with others who have similar issues or interests to yours.

2.  One of the forums will be a lost and found area.  I get several e-mails a week asking me to post lost dogs on the blog, but this gives you a direct connection to central location where everyone can see.

1.  Both the directories & the forums are 100% FREE to both posters and viewers!

Until next time,

Good day, and good dog!

Recently, I have been in contact with a woman from Els St. Bernards in Indiana. The woman I was dealing with was rude and used profane language in her responses to my questioning of her breeding practices. I located this breeder on puppyfind.com. I also reported her to Puppyfind.com. I viewed pictures of her dogs on her website and they look inbred and not up to breed standard. She may not be a scammer, but she is not breeder of quality dogs. Watch out for this one!

Wow.. This is TOO funny! I have top bloodlines.. Apparently you dont’ know what a QUALITY St. Bernard is SUPPOSE to look like!

YOu want to talk about me using bad language? You email me and insult me for placing a retired dog into a pet home! Because I asked a small fee for her instead of giving her away for free!

I welcome ANYONE to email me about this.. LOL It’s too funny. I have contacted puppyfind about this woman as well and my attorney is working with them as well. So, if you have any questions, please feel free to contact me at melissared26@aol.com

See, I have NOTHING to hide, so I use my REAL email address!

Actually, I have two St Bernards from Els St. Bernards in Indiana, and I am working on a third. I have been quite satisfied in dealing with Melissa with the dogs I have. She has always been very helpful in questions and concerns about my dogs. They are both wonderful, well tempered and beautiful dogs. I have been working with Els for almost a year now and I have nothing but good to say.

In response to your negative post about Melissa at Els Saints: I have shown dogs for many years, but I got my first Show St. Bernard 3 years ago. Upon purchasing my first show prospect almost 3yrs ago, she has helped me in every aspect to get started in the breed the right way, I can’t appreciate her enough she has helped me out tremendously not only as a friend but as a mentor. I have been to her home on several accounts and most recently no less then a month ago when she generously offered to let me stay at her home while our BISS CH. Nerthus Rebel Without a Cause daughter was being bred to her flawless BISS CH. Woodstock Steely Dan son “Mel” due to distance and traveling back and forth. Her dogs are very well cared for and spoiled to death, temperaments on all of the dogs are wonderful. None of her dogs are inbred, I’m not quite for sure from looking at pictures how you could distinguish an inbred dog from any other dog? Pedigree’s are amazing, I know them by heart. I would LOVE to have her dogs she has dogs from some of the top Saint Bernard breeders in the country and out of some of the top dogs in the country, her dogs are excellent examples of what a Saint Bernard should look like and pictures do none of the dogs justice from seeing them in person first hand. However, they do look incredible in the pictures as well. But, even better in person. I would HIGHLY recommend Melissa as a breeder, I cannot wait to bring home our next show prospect from Els!

I just read this blog. I was talking to another Els puppy owner and she told me she had talked to Melissa and Melissa mentioned this to her. I find this all to be mildly disturbing. My neighbor and friend purchased her St. Bernard puppy from Melissa a couple of years ago. I fell in love with hers and I contacted Melissa and several other breeders and got one of my own. I visited several kennels and met many breeders and went to many dog shows. At the shows Melissa was at, she was very gracious to us, let us take pictures of our kids with her dogs and didn’t get upset if the kids touched her dogs before they went into the show ring. We travel a great distance now to go shows we know Melissa will be at if time permits. I visited Melissa’s kennel 3 times before purchasing my St. Bernard puppy from her. During our visits we observed very spoiled but well trained dogs. Very well mannered dogs. We recenlty traveled through her area about a week ago and stopped in and seen her dogs yet again. She had some different dogs then before, but there were still the same familiar faces. Buddy had grown ALOT. There was a sweet puppy named Envy and also Pru who was there before but she was all grown up.

Before purchasing a puppy from Melissa, my friend talked to her extensively about her breeding practices and Melissa NEVER spoke ill to her and when I spoke to her several times and seen her several times, she’s never been anything other than gracious and full of help. Granted, she is your average everyday person. She’s very down to earth and very common. She calls it how she see’s it and is very honest and forth coming. She says exactly what is on her mind.

She takes great care and pride in her dogs. She stays in contact with me and my neighbor about our dogs and their progress. If there are any concerns, she is right there on the telephone anytime day or night. Our Rusty recently ate something to make him sick and she was right there on the phone with me the whole time… It was about 4 a..m. her time when we were in the emergency clinic. I have nothing but wonderful things to say about Melissa, her dogs and her family. Our children play with hers when went to see the dogs, we ended up spending hours there. She even invited us to stay for dinner.

So my only observation could be, this lady that is complaining about Melissa has no idea what she is talking about. It’s just sad that one person with a grudge tries to bring GOOD people down.. My friend told me several things this woman said to Melissa and we all had a very good laugh. I guess it takes all kinds to keep this world going around. I just wish there were more breeders like Melissa in this world.

Hey! Yea.. Guess you all better watch out for me..LOL Oh, to her questions in her email.. Why am I NOT on the SBCA website? That’s paid. SBCA does not endorse the breeders on there, it’s simply a paid directory for the members. I feel no need to defend myself to this woman or anyone else. She said she was looking out for the poor sould who pay me money for puppies. Too funny!

She’s mad because I placed Princess on puppyfind for 100 dollars. She claims she has owned several high quality St. Bernards in her life.. I asked for pictures and pedigree and just how many points her dogs earned and she siad she didn’t have to prove anything to me. No, she doesn’t. She would never own an Els saint.. I wouldn’t sell her a bottle of water, let alone a puppy.. She seems like she wants something for nothing. She NEVER asked ANYTHING about breeding practices… She started jumping my ass saying my ad was illiterate and I needed to go back to school and bla bla bla. She is the one that cannot spell correctly or use correct punctuation. Oh well. Wow, Mary! Yours is really long! Better watch it! She will be after you next! LOL

Good bye all.. I dont’ feel the urge to check back on here for anything.. If you see something funny though, let me know. I can always use a laugh!!

GOT SOMETHING TO SAY?
