I was asked recently to check out DogProducts.org. Although the site has lots of items for sale, none caught my interest as much as this book. Don’t you just love the title? “The Cure for Useless Dog Syndrome”.

Tuesday Top Ten: Benefits of Dogtown Cincinnati

Just got word from my niece Allison that she is working at a place in Cincinnati called Dogtown. It sounds like a really neat place, so I wanted to tell all my Tri-State readers about it.
Dogtown Cincinnati is a fun, interactive daycare and kennel-free boarding business located minutes from downtown and Clifton. We provide dogs and cats with a home-like and strict environment. Our goal is to send your dog home tired and with good manners!
Here’s my top ten list of why you should try it out!

Maybe the dog just likes candy?
This is a video of Stryker during training.
Something about this story just tickled my funny bone. A woman from Los Angeles was driving through Solon, Ohio (near Cleveland). She was pulled over for speeding and the human cops found her to be impaired, so they called in a dog to search the car.
Sure enough, Stryker found a bag of Jolly Ranchers that was labeled as containing marijuana for medical use only. (Remember she lives in California, where that’s legal.) But, since she also blew a 0.067 on her breathalyzer test, I guess she may have been more than a little impaired, and she was arrested.
Thanks, Stryker, for keeping our streets safe from candy!
BTW, the Solon police department is currently soliciting donations to care for the K-9 officers on their force.
Until next time,
Good day, and good dog!
Shelter Sunday: K-9 Lifesavers / Washington, DC
Meet Alvin! I have to confess I picked him to feature this week because he is almost identical to my Kayla. He is currently residing with K-9 Lifesavers in Washington DC. Here’s what their website has to say about this handsome boy!

As I reported (belatedly) yesterday was National Dog Day. Did you celebrate?

Canine Guard for a Navy SEAL Funeral
Don’t you just love this picture? They aren’t lying when they call dogs Man’s Best Friend. This showed up recently on Facebook – made me cry. Here’s the original caption, but I don’t know who took the pic.
During Navy Seal Jon Tumilson’s funeral yesterday, his trusted canine friend Hawkeye guarded him one last time.
Tumilson was one of the SEALs killed in the helicopter crash August 6th in Afghanistan.
To all of you who are serving: Thanks, stay safe, and come home soon! We love each and every one of you.
Until next time,
Good day, and good dog!
Puppy Palooza Pic

Got this on my twitter feed today. Apparently it was Puppy Palooza night at Progressive Field / Indians game. They are so cute I just had to share!
(Frank – this one’s for you.)
Until next time,
Good day, and good dog!
PS – Just got down far enough on my Twitter page to find the sponsoring organization for Puppy Palooza. Can anyone explain to me why the Northeast Ohio Regional Sewer District is presenting Puppy Palooza??? Are puppies really a problem for the sewer district? Is the sewer district responsible for puppies? I’m sooooooo confused!
UPDATE: Thanks for the response @NEORSD. Apparently, they are running a campaign about how “Because Dogs Can’t Flush” you need to pick up your dog’s messes before they get into the groundwater. Now, it all makes sense. (Not something I really wanted to think about, but it does make sense!)
Owney the Postal Dog Forever Stamp

Have you seen the new stamp put out by the USPS? It is one of those “Forever” stamps that you can buy at today’s rates and continue to use regardless of how high postage rates go up. (If interest rates continue so low, I may consider investing!) Anyways, this stamp features Owney, the canine mascot of the Railway Mail Service.
