The good folks at Eureka recently sent me a free Pet Pal vacuum cleaner to try out so I could let you know what I thought of it.
The Pet Pal is a 12-amp bagless upright vacuum featuring two tools designed specifically to help you pick up the fur your animals leave behind. First, the Hair Raiser for Pets looks basically like a lint brush, but the edge of it has a rubber strip designed to grab even embedded dog hair from hard-to-reach places. Then, the face of the brush is used to collect the fur. As you put the brush back into its holster, the fur is wiped from the brush, and when you turn the vacuum on the fur is sucked into the dust cup with whatever else you have vacuumed up.
The vacuum also features the Pet Power Paw, a hand tool that can be attached to the vacuum hose to clean fur from upholstery, curtains, and shades.
Other cool features include a dust cup that empties from the bottom, keeping the fur from flying back in your face, and a HEPA filter that is supposed to capture over 99% of dust and allergens.
OK, so that’s what the company says. Here’s my opinion. Even without the special tools, this is a very good vacuum. It maintains its high suction power even as the dust cup fills up, and it picks up nearly all of the dog fur everywhere I tried it. I used the special tools when I couldn’t maneuver the vacuum to the exact spot I needed to clean.
The product is light weight and makes an average amount of noise – not overly loud, but not especially quiet either. My Maggie is just as scared of this one as she is of any other vacuum. The onboard tools mirror those found on other uprights – a crevice cleaner, a rigid hose extender, and a small brush tool.
My one complaint was the short hose length. I was unable to sweep one complete flight of steps without carrying the unit along with me.
Other than that, I was very pleased with the product. The Eureka Pet Pal works very efficiently and effectively to pick up regular household dirt as well as pet fur. On a scale of 1 – 10, I’d give this product an 8.
The Eureka Pet Pal is available at WalMart and WalMart.com for less than $80.
Let me know if you try it, and what you think!
Until next time,
Good day, and good dog!
HMMM,will have to look into this. I have a Dyson which I paid big money for several years ago. Since then they have come out with vacuums that are just as good. With 1 dog,3 cats plus a newly arrived stray kitten, I need something for all the hair!!!!
I bought this vacuum this past Saturday and absolutely LOVE it!! We have 3 cats and the Pet Paw is wonderful for cat hair on my couch and the lint brush is great for in between vacuum times!! :o)
Perfect timing! I came back from vacation recently and my vacuum was borrowed….and broken! I’ve been on the lookout for something new! Thank you!
