Wow! The Crufts show sure packed a lot into their Saturday. Outside the competition ring, there were celebrities galore, of both the 2-legged and 4-legged varieties.
Dog-paw autographs were provided by Dash, a former racing Greyhound rescued by Andrew Dilger. After he had Dash serve as his ring bearer at his wedding, Andrew wrote a book about his best friend, called Dash: Bitch of the Year.
Various British canine stars of the big and small screen were also present.
Rosemary Conley and Sarah Humphreys, who lost half her body weight through walking her dog and changing her lifestyle, were present to support the Kennel Club’s Get Fit With Fido Challenge.
The PAT Dog of the Year Award was given to Muppet, a Cocker Spaniel,who with her person Leisl De Lafontaine, has visited children in the hospital for the past five years.
Welsh Assembly member Angela Burns visited the show . She has been campaigning for fair breeding practices. Fellow politician Roger Helmer, a great fan of rescue Greyhounds, was also at the show.
Oh yeah, and in the show ring, Ch Travella Starlord, aka Henry, a Wire Fox Terrier, owned by Victor Malzoni, from Brazil, won the Terrier Group, and Soletrader Peek A Boo, aka Jilly, a Petit Basset Griffon Vendeen, owned by Gavin and Sara Robertson, from Oxfordshire won the Hound Group.
On Sunday, look for the Toy and Utility Group judging before the Best in Show finale.
