Last week was national dog bite prevention week, but these stats got to me a little late. According to the US Postal Service, their carriers were bitten 5, 669 times in 2010. Here are the top ten cities, along with the number of attacks sustained in each.
10. Seattle, WA: 28
9. Sacramento, CA: 30
8. Denver, CO and Philaelphia, PA: tied at 31 each
7. Minneapolis, MN and Portland, OR: tied at 35 each
6. Cleveland, OH and Phoenix, AZ: tied at 38 each
5. San Antonio, TX and St. Louis, MO: Tied at 39 each
4. Louisville, KY: 40
3. Los Angeles, CA: 44
2. Columbus, OH and San Diego, CA: tied at 45 each
1. Houston, TX: 62
If you live in one of these cities, let us know why you think the number of dogs biting postal carriers is so high. What’s being done in your city to reduce the number of dog bites?
Until next time,
Good day, and good dog!
