Wouldn’t it be nice if you had grandma nearby so you could simply stash your dog with her every time you had to go out of town? You already know she loves dogs and will take great care of your dog while you’re gone. She might even send you pictures and Facebook updates. But what to do if grandma is already gone on to the dog park in the sky or if she lives across the country?
A new company, DogVacay, has started up in the Los Angeles and San Francisco metro areas, competing with Rover, which operates on both coasts. Both sites are free to join. You can sign up as a dog owner, and / or as a person looking for a home where you can board your dog.
The sites provide some background checking of prospective service providers, and match dogs with providers based on geographic location, size of dog, and other parameters. When a match is made, the site gets a percentage of whatever the dog owner agrees to pay the provider.
Check out both agencies before your next trip.
Until next time,
Good day, and good dog!
