Nearly two years ago, we posted a Shelter Sunday feature on Last Chance Dog Rescue in Alabaster, Alabama. I don’t know if it’s as a result of that post, or if Mary Pat Kutschke went to the shelter on her own, but she ended up rescuing a dog named Cornchip, and was nice enough to post an update to our site, which I wanted to share with all of you.
Just an update about cornchip or chippy as we call him. He is awesome!!! Tomorrow he is going to our granddaughter’s school to meet and greet her classmates. He is very excited about this as are we!! He is so sweet and gentle that the teacher asked us to bring him for Show and Tell. That news should make you proud of how you raised our little guy. mary pat kutschke
I forwarded Mary Pat’s comments to the shelter. Here’s their sweet reply:
Oh my gosh, it took this boy forever to find the right family—and it was worth the wait. What a wonderful update, it makes my heart SOAR!
I played a very small role: I posted Cornchip on my website and petfinder etc, am cc’ing Cornchip’s foster mom Ashley and Auntie Kay.
Thanks so much for the great update. All dogs should be so lucky. And Mary Pat is right, Ashley turned Cornchip into a fine little fellow. She took a dog who was so neglected he was unrecognizable—didn’t even look like a dog, and with patience and love started him on a journey to his now wonderful life.
He didn’t have a patch of fur on his body, he was just a swollen, scabbed, mangy creature that looks so distorted he didn’t appear to be a dog.
And now look at him. Going to show and tell. Sometimes we live in a wonderful world because of people who care, no matter what. They see the beauty others dont.
And that is why I love my job!
Until next time,
Good day, and good dog!
