WNDU in Indiana is reporting on a tragic case of “he said / she said” in Hamlet. When a police officer stopped by the house to ask a few questions about a car parked nearby on the street, the homeowner stepped out on the porch with his five-month old Boxer puppy.
The police officer said the “pit bull” charged him, while the family says he simply barked before the officer pulled his gun and started shooting at the dog. After five shots, the dog still wasn’t dead, so the family asked the officer to please put him out of his misery. A final shot to the head took care of it.
Although the officer has been cleared of any wrongdoing by the police department, neighbors aren’t so sure. They’ve posted signs supporting the family and mourning the loss of the dog.
Obviously, none of us were there and don’t know what really happened. It’s just sad all the way around.
Until next time,
Good day, and good dog!
So we teach our kids to trust the nice police Here comes officer unfriendly. How many shots??? A boxer looks nothing like a pit bull. A puppy just gets excited to see a new person. Even if it was a Pit bull there is no excuse to shoot that many times! Don’t they have mace?? He could have killed the owner or a child by a richocet. This guy needs to get a psyc evaluation, glasses and take a course with the K-9 training officers so he can see how valuable dogs are too save their lives They do all the dirty work of finding bodies, bombs and drugs. The K-9 dogs are respected officers. Officer Unfrindly needs a job with the sanation department. Next he’ll go after a child that looks like it wants to bite him!!!! Indiana needs to arm themselves and guard their pets against Puppy Phobia. Shame on them for not biting him in the ass on this one!!!!
Isn’t part of the training of the police force in the U.S. to also use one’s common sense? Worldwide, one hears of trigger-happy cops who shoot first before assessing the situation correctly. After all, bullets kill – man or beast.
A puppy looks like a puppy, whatever breed it is, like children can’t be mistaken for adults.
RIght, that is all that would have had to be done is ask them to put the dog away.
He couldn’t tell the dog was a PUPPY!!!! He must need his eyes checked and his head examined! Sad!
