Warriors and Wolves

Mathew Sinmans / APP

After 29 wolf-dog hybrids were rescued from a tourist attraction in Alaska, the California rescue that took them in knew they needed to tame and train the dogs if they hoped to find adoptive homes for them.

That sounds like a job for a hero, right? So, the shelter partnered with three US military vets who say they can relate to the stress of transitioning to a normal life.

The really cool part is that the wolf-dogs are actually helping the veterans just as much as they’re being helped by them.

Stanley McDonald, a 10-year Navy vet, has been diagnosed with PTSD. Since beginning his work with the dogs, he’s begun reconciling with his ex-wife and reconnecting with his 19-year old son.

Isn’t it nice when we can all get along?

Until next time,
Good day, and good dog!

  1. Yes it is nice when we all get along and see how wonderful it is to rescue these wonderful animals who help us so much. They (and most animals) are the best medicine to bring down the blood pressure.

  2. I think that is so awesome. Animals can be the best therapy for anyone. It helps you to control your patience and earn trust. I had my first Hybrid Wolf in 1980. How do I get information on the adoption program. I have trained dogs for over 25 years. Good Luck you all that is helping.
