Think you’ve got it rough with your aches and pains? Meet Naki’o. After being left for dead in a foreclosed home in Nebraska in the middle of winter, Naki’o stood too long in a puddle, and it froze around his feet.
Frostbite caused him to lose all of his toes, but he was rescued by Ashley at A Puppy’s Voice (which has since been renamed All Aboard Animal Rescue). He was named Stubby and was adopted when he was about eight weeks old and weighed just four pounds.
As you might expect, he had trouble walking on hard surfaces and his family knew the pain would only get worse as Naki’o got older and heavier. They tried several different types of strollers and wagons before meeting a client who lived with a dog who wore a brace made by OrthoPets. They checked out OrthoPets and had the prostheses made for Naki’o.
His mom says the braces changed both her life and Naki’o’s. He is believed to be the first dog in the world with four prosthetic limbs. He is the official spokesdog of Naki’o’s Rescue and even has his own Facebook page!
