WFAA, the ABC affiliate in Dalls, Texas, is reporting on the good works of the Arlington Police Department, who took to social media to locate the lost family of a found dog.
When the officer picked up the wandering dog neighbors had described as “aggressive”, he put the dog in his car, took a picture, and launched a movement. When the picture was posted on Facebook, the dog gathered 5 million views, 77,000 “likes”, and 4,000 comments within just a couple of days.
The department must have a real love for animals. They have a feature on their Facebook page they call “Furever Friday”, where they post a picture of an officer with animals waiting to be adopted.
Although a micro-chip was responsible for reuniting the dog with his owner, I think this is a great use of FAcebook. I know my favorite Facebook PD, (from Brimfield, Ohio) often posts pictures of lost dogs on their page. I always thought of that as “small town charm”, but apparently, it happens in big towns like Arlington, as well.
Kudos to the Arlington PD. Thanks for serving and protecting more than just the two-leggers in your jurisdiction.
until next time,
Good day, and good dog!
