There is a wonderful organization named Bows-N-Ties, that is partnering with the San Francisco SPCA to raise money and awareness about the problem of dog overpopulation. Here’s how they describe the project:
Each year we at Bows-N-Ties get involved in a charitable cause, and for 2014 we decided to partner with the San Francisco SPCA. To help raise both money and awareness we launched DOGS-N-TIES, a campaign that marries fashion and activism to raise funds for homeless animals. All profits from the sale of these pieces will be donated to the SFSPCA. With your help we are confident that we can reach our goal of raising $30,000 by the Holidays – an amount that is enough to feed 1,000 dogs until they find loving new homes.
Over the last few months our fabric designers created 6 classy designs that are screen printed by hand on the finest silk twill. The fabric is then cut and hand sewn into elegant scarves and handsome ties. Each piece is only made 100 times, and all profits are being donated to the SFSPCA. Purchasing just one of these items will raise enough money to feed a dog for 20 days, which is the average time it takes for one of SFSPCA’s dogs to find a new home.
Bows-N-Ties and the San Francisco SPCA appreciate your support. Besides purchasing one of these items, you can also help by sharing this story.
To which I would add the following: it’s only 107 more days until Christmas!
Besides browsing through the more traditional bows and ties they feature on their website, check out their Tumblr Page to see the doggie models wearing the bows and ties. (The photo above is one of several on the page.)
Until next time,
Good day, and good dog!
