As you probably already know, October is breast cancer awareness month. Although sometimes I think I will go nuts if I see one more display of pink, (in the NFL? Really?) it’s worth noting that breast cancers strikes dogs, too.
What’s one of the most important ways to prevent breast cancer in dogs? Spay your pet! Spaying a dog before she goes into heat just about removes the risk that she will develop breast cancer because the source of estrogen is removed from the body. Estrogen feeds tumor cells and makes cancer more likely.
So, spay your pet, wear pink, and enjoy October!
Until next time,
Good day, and good dog!
