The Canton Police Department has announced the memorial services for K-9 Officer Jethro, who was shot and killed in the line of duty last weekend.
This video, posted on Cleveland’s WKYC website, shows Jethro’s body being taken from the vet clinic. A procession of police cruisers and dozens of officers in their personal vehicles accompanied the dog on his final ride, to the animal crematorium.
Services for Jethro will be at noon Thursday (1/14/16) at the Canton Memorial Civic Center. Doors open at 11 a.m. Parking opens at 10:30 a.m. and will be available at the Civic Center on a first come, first serve basis.
Cleveland Avenue North will be closed to traffic from 9th Street NW to 12th Street NW from 10:30 a.m. until the service is over. Market Avenue, which runs along the other side of the Civic Center, will apparently remain open.
Jethro’s body is already at the crematorium; he will not lie in state. No word on whether or not his ashes will be at the service.
Thursday would have been his birthday.
I will, of course attend, and will post pictures if it seems appropriate.
The GoFundMe account has currently raised over $25,000, and is still going strong.
