More from the ASPCA’s Pet Health Insurance pamphlet on things that can harm your dog. This week: human medications.
In general, it’s never a good idea to share medications, whether with another person or with your dog. You might, however, be tempted to give your dog some of these over-the-counter remedies.
1. Ibuprofen or naproxen, sold under brand names like Advil and Aleve. The pamphlet also lists aspirin, but my vet has prescribed aspirin for my dogs before, so this may just be a dose-related warning.
2. Acetaminophen, sold under brand names like Tylenol.
3. Cold and flu meds, which may contain pain-relieving ingredients like those above.
4. Antidepressants
5. Vitamins
6. Diet pills
7. Anti-cancer drugs
Stick to the medications your vet suggests to make sure you keep your best friend in good health.
Until next time,
Good day, and good dog!
