From NBC4i in Columbus: His name is Leonard, and he is Ohio’s first pit bull police officer about to embark on a career as a narcotics K-9. He is also the first K-9 for Clay Township on the western edge of Lake Erie, near the community of Genoa. Many departments across the country are rescuing Pitties from shelters and finding out they make excellent K9s.
I’m so glad Pit Bulls are shedding the stigma of being vicious outlaw dogs made only for fighting.
One of my favorite Animal Planet shows is Pit Bulls and Parolees, because it shows that both humans and dogs deserve second chances and are capable of redemption.
Congrats to Clay Township on getting the message!
Until next time,
Good day, and good dog!
