The ceremonial start of the grandaddy of them all, the Iditarod Sled Dog Trail Race, begins in under 17 hours! This start from Anchorage, Saturday, March 7, 2020, at 2 pm Eastern / 10 am Alaska, gives the public a great chance to be part of the excitement and to see the dogs up close and personal, before the actual race starts on Sunday at Willow. The restart is at 6 pm Eastern / 2 pm Alaska.
Can’t make it to Alaska in time to see it? You can watch it live on Iditarod.com. The cost is $19.95 for a video membership, although you can get limited (non-video) coverage for free.
Wondering about the rules? And here’s where to go if you’re a teacher and want materials for your classroom.
To all the mushers: please be safe, and take good care of those dogs! We’ll see you in Nome!
Until next time,
Good day, and good dog!
