From Military.com and the Honolulu Star Advertiser:
Bogi, a 5-year old Belgian Malinois, has been reunited with her original handler, Sgt. Angela Cardone of the U.S. Marine Corps, at Queen Kapiolani Hotel in Waikiki, with the help of Washington, DC’s American Humane military program.
The pair originally met in Iwakuni, Japan, about three years ago. Cardone trained Bogi as a narcotics detection dog, and the two worked together for two years until Cardone was moved to Honolulu last summer.
Bogi then broke a bone in her neck this month and had to medically retire from service. That’s where American Humane comes in. They helped with the extensive paperwork required to reunite Bogi and Cardone, then transported the dog across 4,000 miles.
Cardone is looking forward to introducing Bogi to everything Oahu has to offer.
With our thanks to both of them for their service,
Until next time,
Good day, and good dog!
