Meet Pete! This Treeing Walker Coonhound mix is interested in a home without cats, children, or other dogs. Here’s what he has to say for himself:
Howdy there folks, my name is Pete! I am a 6 year old gent from the south! I am very friendly and quite an energetic guy who would love to find a home with a big yard and people who will love me forever! I am quite comical, if I do say so myself. I am sure that I will keep you laughing with my antics just as I do for my friends here at the Sanctuary.
I would make for a great hiking partner, but regular neighborhood walks will do. With that being said, I am a favorite among the volunteers and staff when it comes to going on nice long walks, with a side of kisses. I would do best in a home where I can receive ALL the love, so no dogs, cats or kids. I love car rides because that usually means we are going on an adventure! I’m well behaved in the car as well as on walks – I have two speeds – one is the sniffing speed and the other is a quick pace on a mission to find the next exciting thing!
I may be a “senior” but I am a young buck at heart and soul. I need someone who will continue my obedience and manners training in the home. I do have separation anxiety so I would also need my people to work with me on improving my strong urge to be by your side 24/7. Due to my “hound howl” when I am excited, I would not do well with living in an apartment or townhouse… don’t wanna disturb your neighbors. I have been working on obedience during my time here, some commands I know are “sit”, “down”, “crate”, “place” and “here” … “stay” is the hardest for me since usually I can’t wait to get that treat in your hand. Guess what – I come with a training sponsorship from the sanctuary, so my new family and I will be set up for success!
I know I have a lot of specifications on what I need in a new home, but I just want a family and home that is right for me and will let me settle in and take the time to get used to my new life. I PROMISE I am such a good boy and worth it!

Good day, and good dog!
