Deplorable Lack of Disability Awareness at Paralympics: Guide Dog Left Behind

Gonna be on my soapbox for a minute.

You would think, at an event created especially for the disabled, that organizers would have a pretty good handle on what people of different abilities need. Shelter Sunday: Adoptable Dogs Moved to California Ahead of Hurricane Ida

Greater Good Charities mobilized planes and organized pilots to pick up 60 animals from Louisiana and take them to the Helen Woodward Animal Center near San Diego and the San Diego Humane Society.

Camp Run-A-Mutt volunteers were helpful on the ground with unloading the animals as they arrived.

Kudos to all involved.

U.S. Rep. Elissa Slotkin (MI-08) today joined President Joe Biden at the White House to witness the Puppies Assisting Wounded Servicemembers (PAWS) for Veterans Therapy Act be signed into law. The PAWS Act, which Rep. Slotkin has led in two consecutive Congresses, will help connect veterans with service dogs in their communities via a new program administered by the Veterans Affairs Administration. The bill passed the House in May and the Senate in August with overwhelming bipartisan support. Continue reading More on the PAWS Act
