Adoption Fair

My company picnic was at the Cleveland Zoo today.  (And, just in case you were wondering, it is mating season for those huge tortoises, and they are VERY noisy when they do it!)

When we got to the zoo, the whole area from the parking lot to the gates was filled with tents and tables and DOGS.  It was a really cool adoption fair, featuring animals from local shelters and rescue groups.  Click below to see my pictures.

Don’t worry – he won’t bite!

OK, I admit it, I have a vested interest in this one.  I work at a midwestern power company during the day and blog by night.

Our single biggest source of injury is dog bites.  And of course, all the owners tell us, “don’t worry – he won’t bite!”  Have you ever said that about your dog?  Are you sure he won’t?

It’s not only the big, scary dogs that bite.  Our employees have often been bitten by little ankle-biters, as well.

Life with Jake

Last year, my friend Wendy planted a small guarden in her back yard – just a few tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers, squash, and green beans.  She was amazed at how many cucumbers and squash were growing, but after each vegetable got to just about the point where she was ready to pick them, they would disappear!

She thought there must be a thief in the neighborhood, so she began keeping an eye on the garden.  Soon she found out who it was.  You guessed it – her lab puppy Jake!

Glad to see even dogs worry about good nutrition!

Until next time,

Good day, and good dog!
