Although the main event is Monday and Tuesday nights, there were some preliminaries on Saturday. The AKC convenes Meet the Breeds to allow people to get up close and personal with examples of each breed. Each breed group sets up a booth, and their members take turns showing off their dogs and answering questions from the public. The Masters Agility competition also takes place on Saturday. The American Kennel Club (AKC®), the world’s largest purebred dog registry and leading advocate for dogs, announced today that the Azawakh (pronounced Oz-a-wok) has gained full AKC recognition. He is also the first K-9 for Clay Township on the western edge of Lake Erie, near the community of Genoa. Florida voted to ban greyhound racing, so in about a year there will be around 8,000 greys coming off the tracks and 7,000 racers-in-training that all need to find new homes. Ugh.
