NATION’S TOP OBEDIENCE AND RALLY DOGS TO COMPETE FOR NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP TITLES IN WILMINGTON, OH
Sit. Down. Stay. Come. Heel. This June 29th-July 1st, some of the best-behaved and most highly-trained dogs in the nation will meet at The Roberts Centre in Wilmington, Ohio, to compete in the AKC National Obedience Championship® and the AKC Rally National Championship®.
Obedience trials demonstrate a dog’s ability to follow specified routines in heeling, jumping and retrieving as directed by the handler. All contestants in a class are required to perform the same exercises in essentially the same way, so that the relative quality of the various performances may be scored. RIP K-9 Baron
The Boone County, MO Sheriffs Department sadly announced late last week that K-9 Baron had died during a training exercise. The German Shepherd had faithfully served the department since 2012. He was 8.5 years old.
Rest easy, Baron. Others will take the watch from here. Thank you for your service and sacrifice.

Prison Dog Program
I love programs that allow low-security risk inmates to raise and train dogs because they serve two great functions: rehabilitating inmates who may have never done anything positive before, and keeping dogs out of shelters. This video shows one such program from the Fulton County jail in Atlanta, Georgia.
