Saturday Survey: Playing With Your Dog
I posted a couple of times this week about the importance of playing with your dog. One of the articles I read said some people play with their dogs as many as six times a day. I’m not sure what they are defining as a play session – or how long each one lasts, but I think six times a day sounds like a lot. (Maybe that’s because I have four dogs!) How about you – how many times a day do you stop what you’re doing and play with your dog?

Study Shows Link between Lack of Playtime and Problem Behaviors
The UK’s Daily Mail is reporting on a study out of Bristol University that involved over 4,000 dogs and their families. They asked how often people play with their dogs and found that about 20% say they play six times a day. Half of the families said they play 2 or 3 times a day, and 10% play one time each day.

In a somewhat innovative move, Family Court Judge Jim James (Stark County, Ohio) has announced his plans to apply for a court dog from Canine Companions for Independence. Classified as a “facility dog”, the canine would be made available to both prosecution and defense teams to offer emotional support to people who are testifying in stressful cases.
