If you’re a victim of child abuse in East Central Tennessee, your life just got a little better. In recognition of the fact that testifying in a court of law is one of the most traumatic ways to retell a story of abuse, the Cumberland County Courthouse has hired Murch, a Labrador / Golden Retriever mix trained to sit under the witness stand and comfort young victims.

Chihuahua Plays with Great Dane
Today, I promise: no heavy stuff from the news. Only cute, cuter, and cutest! First up, check out this itty-bitty Chihuahua playing with a Great Dane.
I love that the Great Dane keeps doing a little play bow, encouraging the puppy to keep it up!
Until next time,
Good day, and good dog!
Girls Just Wanna Have Fun
After several days of working her hardest, Siberian Husky Shiva was apparently done with serious competition.
Sometimes you just gotta let your hair down a little.

Go, Dog, Go!
Ever wonder how fast a police dog can run? Check out this short video from the Vietnam Dog Handler Association.
Notice the suspect behind the car, apparently firing a gun – you see the smoke from the muzzle, and a split second later – the Shepherd Police Dog leaps across the roof of the auto, clamps onto the suspect, and brings him down so quickly – you’ll watch it several times to really appreciate the valor of this dog.
It appears to me that this may have been a training exercise, as the “suspect” looks like he’s wearing padded gear to protect him from the dog, but whether it’s a real take-down or not, the dog is still pretty darn impressive!
Everybody now, “Bad boy, bad boy, whatcha gonna do? Whatcha gonna do when they come for you?”
Until next time,
Good day, and good dog!
Lovely Dogs in Hamilton, OH
We were traveling in Hamilton, Ohio this past weekend for our annual Challenger baseball tournament, and I got to meet three beautiful dogs!
Meet Rocky, a 10-week old Doxie, who came to watch the games; Comet, a therapy dog who ran the bases with his boy and would happily go down the slide with a sister as long as his young athlete was at the bottom to greet them; and Curly, who was hanging at Bass Pro Shop in spite of having an injured back.
Until next time,
Good day, and good dog!

K-9 Nose Work
I posted earlier this week about Dutchess, the blind therapy dog who has achieved so much in spite of her disability. One of the things she does is participate in the sport of K-9 Nose Work, which I hadn’t heard of before, so I did a little bit of research.
