Pet Ownership Survey
A student at John Brown University is asking for help on a school project dealing with pet ownership. Please participate in his survey if you get a chance.
I’m sure he’d appreciate it. I just took it, and it’s very easy – took me less than 5 minutes. It mostly deals with transportation and boarding.
Until next time,
Good day, and good dog!
Pets Evacuation and Transportation Standards Act
I have been reading some misinformation on Facebook lately regarding the PETS Act. The posts are stating that hotels are not allowed to turn your pets away during an evacuation due to a natural disaster. If only that were true! Continue reading Pets Evacuation and Transportation Standards Act
Guest Post: Traveling With Pets
If you have pets, traveling can be a stressful ordeal for both of you. Making sure your beloved animal is well taken care of is likely a priority, but it’s a big one on top of what is sure to be a long list of things to pack, schedule, and plan. Not only is it overwhelming for you, but when you have to take your pet to a kennel or boarding service, they can suffer from lack of adequate rest and a poor diet due to stress.
The good news is, you have options. If your travel plans will allow you to bring your pet along, good planning and some preparation is necessary. If you prefer to leave your loved one in the capable hands of someone else, there are ways to go about it that won’t leave you worrying during the entirety of your trip. Here are some of the best tips. Continue reading Guest Post: Traveling With Pets

My Niece’s Houseguests
Do you remember a few weeks ago when I said my niece, Allison, had signed up to be a dog-sitter on DogVacay? She’s in the Cincinnati, Ohio area, if any of you are looking for a sitter.
After a few initial hiccups (one of her dogs had a seizure while she was giving a prospective client a tour), she is apparently doing quite well. This is her menagerie for this week. Although four of them live there, it still looks like a good-sized crowd.
She also does grooming and makes accessories such as neckties and bows for dogs. She’s very talented, and I’m proud to say she’s family!
Oh, and did I mention what a great photographer she is? Apparently, she got their attention with a spoonful of peanut butter!
Until next time,
Good day, and good dog!
Dog Grooming and Boarding in Cincinnati

What would you do to keep your dog out of a kennel for the holidays?
Rover.com recently took a poll asking people what they’d rather do than put their dog in a caged kennel setting while they celebrated the holidays. It’s worth popping over to their blog to see the infographic, but here are the highlights:

My Sister’s Dog Bite
It took me a long time to decide whether or not to write this. But it is legitimate news, so I’ll share. My sister works in a boarding facility for dogs in Virginia. When she was cleaning a cage last week, she forgot to put the dog’s bedding back inside, and as she opened the cage to do so, the dog was being brought back in from an outdoor run. Part-Time Pooches: Dog Sharing Comes to Vancouver
I’ve always made a big deal both here on the blog and in the articles I write for doggies.com and breeders.net, about how having a four-legged family member is a full-time gig. However, I can see some merit to this dog-sharing idea, particularly for people who need to be away from home for any length of time.
Whether your job takes you out of the house for 8 hours or more each day or if you travel extensively, I can see where it would be neat to share the duties of taking care of a dog rather than worrying about kenneling or finding a friend to stop by every day.
