Maybe I don’t get involved enough, but I don’t think there are this many dog-centered activities here in Canton. I received this e-mail from friend-of-the-blog Cynthia, who is involved in an organization known as St. Almo’s. They have some great ideas here!

Cutest Dog Contest
All American Pet Brands is hosting a cutest dog contest on their Web site. This has been going on since August, but I just found it. Entries are already closed, but you can have input into the final winner!
They’re also giving away a Nano mp3 player to one lucky voter each day.
Danny, the beagle pup pictured here has my vote. Who’s your favorite?
Until next time,
Good day, and good dog!
Is your dog a rebel without a cause? (Or even with one?)
A new product from Pet Science Labs allows you and your dog to make a statement! Using non-toxic paints in a variety of colors, you simply apply the paint to the soft foam rubber stamp and press it against your dog’s coat. When it starts to fade, or if your dog needs to go to a job interview, simply wipe off the paint with a wet paper towel. Be sure to use light-colored paint on dark-colored dogs, and vice versa.
Please note: this is not a permanent tattoo you can use to ID your dog in the event of theft. This is simply a fun way to allow your dog to express himself at the dog park.
Available stamps include “Say it to the Paw” and “Drama Queen” (perfect for my Beagle). If you’re dog’s a bit on the wild side, you might like “Devil Dog” or “Bad Ass”. How about “Will Work for Food” (shaped like a chicken wing) or “I [heart] New York”? And if you have a breed that is in danger of being banned in your municipality, you may like “Punish the Deed, Not the Breed”.
Each stamp currently sells for $6 and comes with a 3-color paint pot and paint brush. They will also custom-make a stamp for you, if your dog has something unique to say for a special event. Sounds like fun! If you’ve tried them, let us know what you think.
Until next time,
Good day, and good dog!
Check out this dog’s tricks!
When you go to this site, you will see a dog looking at you. Underneath the dog is a box, where you can type commands for the dog, and he will do tricks for you! Type in some of the common ones like sit, down, etc. Then try a nonsense word like “zoiwher” and see what happens. When you’re done playing, type “kiss” to get your reward!
(OK, yes, this is technicallyan ad, but you don’t have to click on the ad to enjoy the puppy doing cool tricks.)
Until next time,
Good day, and good dog!
Have you ever seen an orangutan walking a dog?
There’s a YouTube video posted from National Geographic here. It’s so tender! Seems this orangutan met a hound dog while out on a walk, and they fell absolutely in love. (Get your mind out of the gutter – it’s sweet!)
Until next time,

Friday Funny: Snow White and the Seven Dwogs
I received this e-mail from a friend today, entitled “why you should never leave home without a camera”. Most of the pix are unlabeled as to source, so if they’re yours, let me know so I can give credit where it’s due!

A-Easy Driving Method: So Easy, Even a Schnauzer Can Do It
Yesterday, my partner dropped a dog cookie. You guessed it – the dogs went after the cookie and ended up mistaking Debbie’s toe for the treat. She has a nasty infection and had to go to the ER last night. On the way home, we stopped to pick up her antibiotics, and found this car in the parking lot:
Sorry it’s so dark – this was 11 at night.

Tuesday’s Top Ten: Gifts for Dog Lovers
Yes, I know it’s a little early for Christmas, but my favorite catalog of all time arrived at my house today, so I had to make this list for you. In addition to having the funniest T-shirts I’ve ever seen (“Just be happy I’m not a twin” and “Of course I’m right, I’m Italian” and “Careful or you’ll end up in my novel”), What On Earth has a whole section of dog-related gifts. So, here’s the cream of the crop.
Name Ronnie Nose’s Dog
This is short notice, as the end date of the contest is this Friday! Nasonex (an allergy nasal spray) is running a contest to name the dog which appears in their online game, “Don’t Blow It”. The star of the game is Ronnie Nose, a large nose which apparently uses Nasonex to avoid allergy symptoms. Ronnie now has a dog who needs a name.
Contest Rules:
Name Ronnie Nose’s Dog Contest
- Contest runs from August 3 to September 11, 2009
- Enter by submitting a creative name at nameronniesdog.com
- One winner will receive a $500 gift certificate to FetchDog and have his/her name featured on the “Don’t Blow It” game
- Two runners-up will each receive a $250 gift certificate to FetchDog
Good luck!
Until next time,
Good day, and good dog!
Poodle Madness
For those of you who enjoyed the last set of pictures I published from grooming shows, I stumbled across this slideshow from MSNBC.com. Too cute!
