Better Buddies
Have you visited Better Buddies yet? I really like this dog bed store, because it is so much more than a dog bed store!
“Are You My Mother?” said the tiger to the dog.
I know this has happened before, but it still amazes me. At the zoo in Qingdao, China, a baby Siberian tiger was abandoned by its mother. It wasn’t long before a dog stepped in to nurse the tiger and act as its mother. Don’t you just love the picture? I think the tiger looks like a Shar-pei. I’m sure they’re really stripes, but they look like wrinkles.
Check out People Pet’s photo gallery of other surrogate moms. Dare you not to say “Awwwwww…” at least once!
Until next time,
Good day, and good dog!

In honor of the 10th anniversary of the tragedy at Ground Zero, a new book has been published showcasing photographs of the search and rescue dogs from 9/11 that are still alive. Of the 100 original dogs, only twelve are left. Thought you might enjoy seeing some of the photos. If you’re interested in the book, titled Retrieved by Dutch photographer Charlotte Dumas, it is available on Amazon. And here’s a link to the article describing the book from the UK’s Daily Mail. Urgent Adoption Request from Greencastle, IN
From HSPCAnimals.org:
It is with extreme sadness that we announce that the shelter will be closing on September 30, 2011. We have been instructed that all animals are to be placed by the 30th or be euthanized.
Any animal at the shelter that is already spayed/neutered will be adopted out with a “choose your own adoption fee” special. Those not spayed/neutered will be adopted out with an adoption fee to cover the costs. ALL adopted animals will be s/n before going home. PLEASE help us place these animals!
Between now and the end of September, the shelter will be open Tuesday and Saturday, noon to 5 p.m. for adoptions.
Financial donations are still desperately needed to cover costs through the end of the month, in addition to covering debts.
When I checked at PetFinder this morning, there were 5 dogs and 23 cats left in need of a home. Please help if you can! Contact info: 765.653.5739 or [email protected]
Until next time,
Good day, and good dog!

Wouldn’t you seek custody of the dog?
A man in Kirkland, WA backs out of his driveway the other day, and stops to find a beautiful Cavalier King Charles Spaniel with a note attached to his collar. The note asks that someone take care of the beloved Mr. B, who was abandoned after a divorce when neither parent wanted the dog.
What a heartbreaking story…but it has a happy ending. Mr. Wu, the man who found the dog, took Mr. B to work, where he has since been adopted.
Until next time,
Good day, and good dog!
