My poor Penny had to go to the vet last week for her sore back. While we were waiting, Bear and Brutus came in for their appointment. I don’t get to see many Bernese Mountain Dogs around Canton!

Baseball Assistance Dog
We just returned from my favorite weekend of the year – Ohio’s Challenger Baseball State Tournament, this year hosted by our Toledo group. The child in the chair is from Wheelersburg, Ohio, and brought an assistance Doxie to help out! Love the little helmet – how cute!

Making New Friends Wherever I Go
We stopped for the night on our way back to Ohio from Florida at a small town in the Smoky Mountains called Bryson City. During a wonderful dinner at Anthony’s, we noticed a couple on the porch of the restaurant with their 3 dogs, Aspen, Ruby, and Bandit (L to R, I think). They were vacationing here from Florida and said the dogs would LOVE to be featured on doggies.com.
Just because it’s so pretty, I have to show you the view out my hotel window, not that it has anything to do with dogs. This is the Tuckasegee River, as seen from the porch of Riverbend Lodging.

Winners: Best Buy’s Photo Contest from National Pet Month
Best Buy has announced the winners of their National Pet Month photo contest. The first thing that strikes me is that the dogs slaughtered the cats – there were 14 winning photos of dogs, and only 1 of cats, although the cat photo wins for the most animals in one picture.
