Tuesday Top Ten: Photos From AKC Meet The Breeds 2020

The AKC Meet the Breeds event was held this past weekend in New York City. Here are my top ten picks of the pictures provided to the press by the AKC. In a change this year (to accommodate the big crowds), the event was held separately from the Westminster Show.

Many of the booths are elaborately decorated, and a prize is given to the best booth from each breed group (Hounds,
Terriers, etc)

I know, I know, it’s still January, but I thought you might like to know that the schedule for the granddaddy of all dog shows has a slightly different schedule this year.

The agility championship will be held before the conformation show, as per usual, on Saturday, February 8th.

The obedience championship is also the weekend before the show, on Sunday, February 9th.

What’s new is that the conformation best in breed judging will be held over the course of three days rather than two. Hounds and Herding breeds will be judged on Sunday, with the Terriers, Non-Sporting, and Toy breeds to follow on Monday. Group judging for four of the five groups will be on Monday evening. Terrier group judging is carried over until Tuesday evening. Continue reading 2020 Westminster Kennel Club Show Schedule

OK, all you dog show lovers, prepare yourselves. This new dog show doesn’t care about pedigrees! While most dog shows focus on each dog’s level of conformance to an ideal breed standard, this show judges things like Best Wiggle Butt, Best Snoring, Best Couch Potato, and Best Underbite. Hosted by Rebecca Romijn and Rich Eisen, the show will feature celebrity judges.

The show is sponsored by Adopt-A-Pet.com, and seeks to end animal homelessness.

Preview the contestants and tune in Tuesday at 8 pm Eastern.

Until next time,
Good day, and good dog!
