Good day, and good dog!
Here in Ohio, we are just about recovered from our first major snowfall of 2010. When I let my dogs inside last night, I took a look at their feet – bad news! My golden had lots of snowballs stuck between her toe pads, and all of the dogs’ toe pads looked a lot worse for wear. So, I did a little research today to find out how to take better care of their feet during the harsh winter weather.
If you are over the age of 40 or 50, you have likely realized that with age comes not only wisdom, but also aches and pains. Your dog might begin to experience the same trouble as he or she ages. What to do? Why not take the dog to a spa?
If you use Merrick Beef Filet Squares manufactured by Merrick Pet Care, you need to be aware that some of the treats are contaminated with salmonella according to the Food and Drug Administration. Although they have not currently heard of any illnesses linked to these treats, there is a possibility of humans getting sick if they handle the snacks.
The affected Merrick Beef Filet Squares for dogs have a “best buy” label of 111911. The agency recommends that consumers who are unable to determine the “best by” date discontinue use of the product.
Products suspected of being contaminated should be discarded in a secure trash can with a lid.

Seems like lately I have met lots of therapy dogs at hospitals around Northeastern Ohio. (I think that means I’m spending too much time there.) Anyways, we were recently at the Cleveland Clinic, following up on the stroke my oldest son had a few years ago, and met Archie, one of their star therapy dogs. He wasn’t real interested in posing for his picture, but what a handsome boy!

On one of his recent escapades running loose through the neighborhood, my Vizsla, Cooper, ended up with a nasty open sore on one of his foot pads. Of course, he didn’t want to leave it alone, and I didn’t want to put him in one of those ridiculous Elizabethan collars, so I did a bit of research on bandaging on a dog. Thought you might be interested in what I found.
