It seems like there are two types of dog lovers – those who consider their dogs their children, and those who believe dogs are there to do a job – guard, hunt, or whatever. A lot of times, this is reflected in where the dog lives – inside with the family, or outside in a kennel or dog house. Where does your dog live?

Saturday Survey: How does your dog like the vet?
This past week’s top ten post was about reducing your dog’s stress level during vet visits. Does your dog stress out over check-ups?

Saturday Survey: Award-Winning Dogs
We posted earlier this week about Harbor, the dog who was recently named as being the world-record holder for having the longest ears on a living dog. It made me think about awards my dogs might be able to win. I think their biggest talent is the Oscar-winning performance they give, trying to convince each of us that no one else in the house fed them yet. Continue reading Saturday Survey: Award-Winning Dogs
Saturday Survey: Your Dog’s Christmas Gift
Did you get your dog a Christmas gift this year? My four were treated to big, new marrow-filled bones, that they carried around the whole day. Penny immediately took her bone under the end table so no one would bother her. I saw only her tail for the biggest part of the morning.

Saturday Survey: Your Dog and Your Christmas Tree
We have our Christmas tree in the living room, behind a baby gate, to keep the dogs out of it. We started this after the time they ate a glass bulb and I had to make mashed potatoes to coat the shards…on a day when I was already preparing a special dinner for 27 friends and relatives.

Saturday Survey: How Strong of a Dog Advocate Are You?
We’ve posted a couple of times in recent weeks about Lynn Jones, a baggage handler who lost her job because she refused to put an severely ill dog into the cargo hold of a plane. I’d like to think I’d stand up and be counted as a dog advocate, but I’m not sure I’d be willing to lose my job over it. How about you?

Saturday Survey: Does Your Dog Play Well With Others?
I’ve posted a couple of stories lately about dogs playing with other animals such as a horse and a duck. What about your dog? Does s/he play well with others?

Saturday Survey: Hospital Therapy Dogs
A lot of you liked the picture we showed earlier this week of the beautiful German Shepherd sleeping at the bottom of a hospital bed. Made me wonder what your experience has been with therapy dogs. I’ve passed several in the halls of various hospitals, but I’ve never had one visit while I was a patient. How about you?
Saturday Survey: Walking Your Dog
Paul posted earlier in the week about how scary it was to see dogs walked off-leash because he was afraid the dog might run off after a squirrel or a cat. What about you? Do you walk your dog off-leash?
Saturday Survey: Hero Dog Awards
I spent a lot of time last night live-blogging the Hero Dog Awards on Hallmark Channel. As you probably know by now, guide dog Roselle was the overall winner. Did you agree with the decision of the judges? As a reminder, here’s a quick summary of each of the finalist Hero Dogs. Continue reading Saturday Survey: Hero Dog Awards
