The damage in NY and NJ is unfathomable, and so much help is needed. A lot of people are giving to the Red Cross, but they don’t typically help animals. What will you do to help out?

We had my son’s girlfriend & her 2 kids over for dinner tonight. It was so much fun to watch Cooper, the Vizsla, try to play with her 19-month old daughter. She doesn’t have stairs at her house, so she had a great time crawling up and down ours. Cooper followed her up and down every time. I’m not sure if he was protecting her or just trying to keep track of whether she was getting close to his toys. The other dogs just pretty much ignored her.
I remember when my kids were little and my dad would babysit for me. We had one dog that would follow him from room to room when he was walking with the baby. She was sooooooo worried he would do something to my son!
So, I got to wondering – how do your dogs feel about babies?
I sat here today and watched my alma mater Kent State’s Golden Flashes and my Ohio State Buckeyes win their football games today, and I got to thinking about what horrible mascots both of these are. (What is a golden flash, anyway?)
Lots of schools have really cool dogs as their mascots (the Collie named Reveille at Texas A&M, and the former racing Greyhound at Eastern New Mexico and the Bluetick Coonhound at Tennessee, for example), but there seems to be four main breeds represented. Which one do you think makes the best team mascot / school representative?
We’ve talked a lot about not punishing a dog for being aggressive if the dog is taught to be that way by his or her owner. During this past week, we published a post about a man who received a 1-year prison sentence after his dogs attacked ten people. Is this the right way to deal with the problem?

Last Wednesday, Cleveland Indians fans were invited to bring their dogs to Progressive Field as part of a special event called Puppy Palooza. Given the chance, would you bring your dog to an MLB game?
What did you think of yesterday’s photo? Should dogs be allowed to ride along on motorcycles?

We’ve all struggled with it: what to do with the dog for the 8+ hours we have to be away each work day. The “experts” tell us that most dogs sleep the day away while we’re at work, but have they ever seen the messes we come home to? I’m guessing my dogs must have destroyed the couch while sleepwalking??? Anyways, how have you solved the problem?

As I posted earlier in the week, NBC is previewing a new show to premier this fall called “Animal Practice”. In fact, they got dinged for showing part of an episode about a monkey right after Gabby Douglas (who is black) won her gold medal. But I digress…

I posted earlier in the week the top ten reasons for using a seatbelt on your dog when transporting him or her, but I have to confess, I don’t often strap my dogs in. How about you?
