Don’t we owe it to shelter dogs to at least euthanize them humanely?

A sad story out of Gallia County, OH last week. Columbus TV station NBC-4 is reporting that the shelter has been killing animals in an inhumane way, by injecting drugs directly into their hearts. Evidently this causes extreme pain, sometimes for as long as 30 minutes, when it is done without any sedatives.

Shelter Sunday: Second Chance for Pets / Dewitt County Animal Shelter / Clinton, IL

bella ILMeet Bella! This little cutie is in foster care in Clinton, Illinois, courtesy of Second Chance for Pets and the Dewitt County Animal Shelter. Here’s what their website has to say about this little girl…who won’t be little for long!

1/26/14: Bella is 17 week old walker coon hound. She’s a sweetheart, loves dogs n kids and everyone. She’s extremely smart and knows sit and fetch and watch. She’s kennel trained and doing great on her house training. Bella will be spayed, up to date on her shots, and microchipped next week. She’s been passed around a lot and seems to adjust quickly. Bella needs a forever loving home. She deserves the best…is that you?
