Dog Rescuer Losing Home; Needs Help Keeping Pets

I really hadn’t intended this to be the week that I kept coming back again and again to ask for donations, but there is such a great need out there. I’m trying at least to give you a variety of options so you can choose where your donation, however large or small, can do the most good.

None of the causes I’m posting have any relationship to doggies.com and are not, per se, endorsed by this site. Do your research and make sure you know what you’re giving to and how the money will be used. (I guess I probably should have said that on Monday!)

This kitty loves her some Pit Bull!

Thanks to friend-of-the-blog Rob Worrall for sending this to me. I’m embarrassed to admit I missed this – Cleveland’s practically in my back yard!

When this puppy was dropped off at the Cleveland Animal Protective League, they had to find someone to nurse it back to health, and lacking any suitable dog mamas, they turned to Lurlene the cat!

In other Cleveland APL news, they are currently accepting submissions for their 2014 calendar, if you have a picture you’d like to send.

Until next time,
Good day, and good dog!

Shelter Sunday: Blue Ridge Humane Society / Hendersonville, NC

This 5-year old Pointer / Beagle mix has been living in Hendersonville, NC at the Blue Ridge Humane Society since May. Here’s what their website has to say about her.

Memphis Shelter Worker Guilty of Animal Cruelty

Don’t they screen these people? Such a sad story! I hope they sentence this monster appropriately. Although I’m not sure what would be appropriate – maybe let him live in a cage and get held in a choke-hold every once in awhile?

Two other employees pled guilty to animal cruelty charges last year. Archie Elliot III was sentenced to two years in prison, while Frank Lightfoot was sentenced to just 20 days. Charges were dismissed against the former director of the shelter and his administrative assistant. The shelter’s veterinarian was acquitted.

The Examiner has been following the story from the beginning.

I’ll try and update you as to the sentencing when it is held.

Until next time,
Good day, and good dog!
