Animal lovers around the world are uniting on September 27th, for the global movement known as Remember Me Thursday. We will light candles to shine a light on those waiting in shelters and rescues, and to remember those who have tragically lost their lives in shelters while hoping to find a home and family of their own. NBC and Telemundo stations around the country will team up with hundreds of shelters on Aug. 18 for the fourth annual Clear the Shelters animal adoption drive.
Since 2015, over 150,000 animals have been adopted at this annual event. Maybe you can find your new family member this weekend. Adoption fees are often waived or discounted at participating shelters. Find the closest participating shelter.
I know this is an ad for an adoptable cat, but it is so well written I wanted to share it. I spend a fair amount of time dreaming about getting another dog, and perusing rescue postings. Usually, they are written to fit a certain template and tell you just about nothing about the dog. This one, by contrast, really gets your attention.

Looking for a way to help dogs rescued from the California wildfires? Look no further! The video lists needed supplies, but if you’re not in the area, I’m sure they’d appreciate cold, hard cash, as well!
NewsChannel 11 is spreading the word about the Greene County, Tennessee animal shelter, which is up to its ears in dogs. A county resident died recently, leaving behind 60 dogs in need of foster and / or adoptive placements. The shelter is also looking for donations of cash, food, and other supplies.
