Meet Luna! This beautiful girl is extra large, spayed, and up-to-date on vaccines. Here’s what her rescuers have to say about her:
Luna, a 3 yr old female Mastiff/ Boxer mix, weighs 105 lbs. Luna is housebroken and crate trained, she is closer to Mastiff in size and Boxer in personality. This girl can be quite the clown. She loves just about everyone she meets and enjoys going on walks and saying hi, Luna does not realize how big she is and needs to be reminded not to jump on people when greeting them. Tennis balls and rope toys are her favorite playthings, lounging on the couch is great too! While Luna does get along and likes to play with other dogs similar in size, she tends to get jealous if other dogs are getting attention from her humans, so she needs to be the only dog in the home and have regular play dates set up. Guess who just got her remote media credentials for the big summer Westminster Dog Show? That’s right – this girl!
Regular readers know this show is my favorite dog-related event of the year, but as with everything else, COVID-19 messed up the schedule as well as eliminating spectators and vendors. In order to still be able to hold the show this year, they moved it outside to Lyndhurst in Tarrytown, and since January in New York isn’t always outside-friendly, they rescheduled for June.
A dog who has been trained to do two different things, like maybe drug detection and patrol, is known as a dual-purpose dog. Hunter has apparently graduated to the never-before-seen triple purpose rating, having learned dispatch, as well. (From the Facebook page of PK9A.)

If you haven’t already seen it, this video is amazing! Hennessy, a house cat, jumped out of a 5th-floor window to escape an apartment fire. Problem is, he’s now hiding and possibly injured. If you’re in Chicago, please keep your eyes peeled. This hero without a cape needs to get home to his family.
Until next time,
Good day, and good – um – cat!
