Depraved Indifference
From the Newark, NJ Star Ledger: When Haniyyah Barnes got upset with her neighbor because of a shared driveway parking dispute, she went ballistic. Unfortunately, she turned her anger on a Shih Tzu owned by the neighbor, who came to the defense of her owner after Barnes broke into their home. In a rage, Barnes grabbed the dog by the throat and threw it into oncoming traffic. The little dog was struck and killed.

Don’t we owe it to shelter dogs to at least euthanize them humanely?

A sad story out of Gallia County, OH last week. Columbus TV station NBC-4 is reporting that the shelter has been killing animals in an inhumane way, by injecting drugs directly into their hearts. Evidently this causes extreme pain, sometimes for as long as 30 minutes, when it is done without any sedatives.

How’s this for an excuse? You let your dog get so infested with fleas that she scratches off most of her fur, so that’s why you had to leave her in a box by the side of a road that asks whoever finds the dog to find her a home because she’s too hideous to keep.
