Turns out pet flipping is a topic that many of you are interested in, so I’m searching for more info on this important topic. If you’re not familiar with the term, pet flipping can happen in a couple of different ways. Con artists may steal a dog found out wandering or even take a dog from your yard, then they advertise it on Craigslist or in other online forums and sell the dog for profit. Alternatively, they may claim a lost dog from an online posting, then turn around and sell him or her.
Your best defense? Keep your dog in your sight or on a leash at all times. And get the dog micro-chipped so you can positively identify yourself as the owner. Also, hang onto the papers that came with your dog and any pictures you may have taken that can help you prove a past relationship with the dog.
Until next time,
Good day, and good dog!
Flipping Pets
Although this video focuses on Central Ohio, I would imagine the threat exists everywhere. I can’t say it enough – keep your pets at home, whether with a fence, a tether, or a leash.
People are “finding” loose pets, stealing them, and selling them on Craigslist. Scary!
Until next time,
Good day, and good dog!
