The huge dog show known as the AKC National Championship presented by Royal Canin is coming up this weekend (December 17 – 18) in Orlando, Florida. The event actually runs all of this week with lots of preliminary rounds and exhibitors starting on December 13th. Yes, there is a conformation show, including 209 different breeds, as well as a Junior Handling Competition. I’ll bring you more information on those tomorrow. Western Region Finals of 2014 Incredible Dog Challenge – Live Streaming
Here’s the link for Saturday’s Western Region Finals of the 2014 Purina Pro-Plan Incredible Dog Challenge. Clicking on the link will take you to Livestream.com, where you watch all of the action as it unfolds. The finals begin at 2 pm on Saturday, May 31, 2014 and run until 8 pm that same day. (Both times are Eastern, even though the event is being held in Huntington Beach, CA)
If you’ve not seen one of these competitions before, you’re in for a real treat. Events include Diving Dogs, Jack Russell Hurdle Races, Freestyle Flying Disc, Agility, and Fetch It!
Winners from this competition will go head to head with the Eastern Regional winners in St. Louis, MO September 26th – 27th.

A World’s Record Up for Grabs
Well, Rocket tried, but he couldn’t get it done. A 6-year old Whippet, Rocket has in the past caught an object thrown 120 meters. However, when they tried to make it happen for the Guinness judges, he and distance hurler Erin Hemmings just couldn’t make the connection.
