While you’re cooking your appetizers and waiting for the Super Bowl to start tomorrow, don’t forget to tune into Animal Planet at 3:00 (Eastern) for Puppy Bowl XIII.
If you haven’t seen it before, they take several puppies from shelters and put them in a pen painted to look like a football stadium. A man dressed as a referee makes the calls, and when the puppies drag a toy over the goal line, it’s good for a touchdown. The event has expanded over the years, now including cats and other small critters.
It’s really cute, and worth tuning in if you’re not doing anything more important on Super Bowl Sunday. The best part? The event is designed to call attention to all the dogs sitting in shelters waiting to be adopted.
