Updated Odds for 2012 Westminster Dog Show

“Wizard of Odds” Johnny Avello has updated his odds chart for your entertainment while viewing the show tonight.  This new chart has the Pekingese in the lead at 6 – 1 odds, followed by the Black Cocker at 7 – 1, and the Wire Fox Terrier at 8 – 1.

See if he does any better than I did at picking winners, tonight on USA Network from 8 – 11 pm.

I’ll be updating throughout the day as more of the breed judging results come in. But first, since I’m on such a great winning streak (1 for 12), let me remind you of my picks for this group:

  • Flat-coated Retriever GCH CH Valhala Born on the 4th of July (“Cruise”)
  • Golden Retriever GCH CH Gemini Fallchase The Butler Did It (“Cody”)
  • Weimeraner GCH CH Northwoods Send Money Honey (“Schatze Page”)

First Four Dogs Set for Best in Show Competition at 2012 Westminster

Results are in for the first four groups, and here are the dogs who will be heading to the Best in Show ring at the Garden tonight.

From the Hound Group:  Cinders, the wire-haired Dachshund (GCH Raydachs Playing with Fire)

From the Toy Group:  Malachi, the Pekingese (CH Tinkilees Drama Queen)



From the Non-Sporting Group: Ian, the Dalmatian (GCH Spotlights Ruffian)



From the Herding Group: Cap, the German Shepherd (GCH Babheim’s Captain Crunch)

AKC / Eukanuba National Championships

The AKC/Eukanuba National Championship dog show was actually held way back on December 17th & 18th, but ABC today got around to airing a (highly edited) show. From 200 breeds shown at Orlando’s Orange County Convention Center, here are the group winners:
Sporting: Black Cocker Spaniel named Beckham
Herding: German Shepherd Dog named Capi
Hounds: Harrier named Chet
Working: Boxer named Scarlett
Toy: Affenpinscher named Joe
Terriers: Wire Fox Terrier named Eira
Non-Sporting: Standard Poodle named London
