I am getting ready to do my Christmas baking, and someone sent me this – perfect timing!
My middle son, Jimmy, has recently become involved in the Big Brothers/Big Sisters program here in Canton. His big brother, Chris, tells this story about his Australian Shepherd, Sloopy. (Yes, he is a big Ohio State fan.)
After the nasty story I published this morning, I had to give you something to lift your spirits. Check out this video of a Golden welcoming her soldier home after his tour of duty.
Until next time,
Good day, and good dog!
Time for another touching dog story. And I did check this one out on Snopes – it is apparently true. Always nice to end the week with a story of people being good to each other.
Our pick for dog picture of the year!
Caption: Dear God, Thank you for sending me to Timmy’s house instead of Michael Vick’s! Amen.
Last night, I was sitting in my La-Z-Boy writing an article, and Twiggy (one of the cats at my house) jumped up into my lap, which is the normal resting place for my Vizsla, Cooper. Even though he was perfectly comfortable on the bed, he had to come chase Twiggy off of my lap, but halfway there, he stopped to scratch.
As we end October, which is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, I thought this story from WEWS in Cleveland was appropriate. (No, it doesn’t involve NFL players wearing pink shoes – have you ever seen anything more ridiculous?)
I know I’ve seen this dog on TV before but I can’t remember where. Thanks to friend-of-the-blogger Wendy for submitting this story about a dog born on Christmas Eve, 2002, and thanks to Judy Stringfellow for believing in him!
My bad! I totally missed the boat on this one. Over the summer, Reader’s Digest ran a contest to find a winner for the award of Hero Pet of the year. Finalists included 2 dogs, 1 horse, 1 cat, and 1 parrot. No big surprise that one of the dogs won!
I’m sorry I didn’t get this to you in time to vote – I’ll put it on my calendar to check on for next year. At any rate, the stories of the finalists are available on the Reader’s Digest site – they are very touching.
Until next time,
Good day, and good dog!
