Living right next to the main highway through town, my friend made quite a spectacle of herself whenever she mowed the lawn. The reason people were so interested was that she had a rather large shadow!

Don’t worry – he won’t bite!
OK, I admit it, I have a vested interest in this one. I work at a midwestern power company during the day and blog by night.
Our single biggest source of injury is dog bites. And of course, all the owners tell us, “don’t worry – he won’t bite!” Have you ever said that about your dog? Are you sure he won’t?
It’s not only the big, scary dogs that bite. Our employees have often been bitten by little ankle-biters, as well.
Up, Up, and Away!
Toto – I don’t think we’re in Kansas anymore! From the Chicago Sun Times: a 130-pound Rottweiler named Chase was swept off his feet by a tornado that touched down in suburban Richtor Park on Saturday. The storm ripped roofs off buildings, crushed garages, and split trees, in addition to carrying Chase about a block away from his home.
Life with Jake
Last year, my friend Wendy planted a small guarden in her back yard – just a few tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers, squash, and green beans. She was amazed at how many cucumbers and squash were growing, but after each vegetable got to just about the point where she was ready to pick them, they would disappear!
She thought there must be a thief in the neighborhood, so she began keeping an eye on the garden. Soon she found out who it was. You guessed it – her lab puppy Jake!
Glad to see even dogs worry about good nutrition!
Until next time,
Good day, and good dog!

Sad News
My friend breeds doxies and had a tragedy this weekend.
Gretta went into labor, bringing out one very large puppy, but then she struggled and struggled to bring out the next one. She took good care of the one puppy, but eventually stopped even trying to birth the others. Continue reading Sad News
Undercover, but not a cop…
I never knew sanitation workers could go undercover…only in New York City.
Apparently, The Big Apple is serious about its pooper scooper law. Theo Otibu, a former Ghana police officer and UN monitor in Bosnia, is now an undercover sanitation worker in Brooklyn – watching for people who don’t clean up after their dogs. Apparently, the sanitation department employs 15 people to enforce the pooper scooper law across the five boroughs… Continue reading Undercover, but not a cop…

Woofstock
Planning to be in the Toronto area this weekend? Check out Woofstock, North America’s largest outdoor doggie festival.
Located throughout the St. Lawrence Market neigborhood, the festival includes over 200 vendors selling everything from dog tattoos to party dresses. Make sure you bring Fido so he can sniff some new behinds!
And if you’re planning an overnight stay, check to see if the Banting House B&B has any rooms available. Paul, the owner, is a close personal friend of Doggies.com.
Until next time,
Good day, and good dog!
