OK, my dogs like to chase baseballs, tennis balls, basically anything that moves. But I think Bertie, a Pointer mix from England, has them beat. Continue reading Dog eats NINE golf balls

Remembering Senator Kennedy
Love his politics or hate them, there’s no denying that Ted Kennedy was a loyal and loving human to his dogs. He even wrote a children’s book called “My Senator and Me”, giving author credit to his Portuguese Water Dog, Splash.
Sunday Survey: Does your dog watch TV?
It used to be I couldn’t watch the lottery’s TV show because my dog would bark her head off every time the bells dinged indicating someone had won. I’ve also had dogs that loved to watch dog shows. Have you ever had a dog join you in the easy chair for a show?
Very Touching Dog Story
This one’s a little longer than most, but well worth your time. I dare you to read all the way to the end without tearing up.
Death of the World’s Tallest Dog
Dateline: Sacramento
Gibson, the world’s tallest dog, has died from cancer at the age of 7. After being diagnosed with bone cancer last April, Gibson had his right front leg removed, but it was too late to prevent the cancer from spreading to his lungs and spine. When he began having trouble with his back legs, Sandy Hall had to make the difficult decision to put him down.
Gibson had worked as a therapy dog, and Ms. Hall has established a Web site in his memory to promote Three Paws for the Cause, to raise awareness of canine cancer.
Gibson’s world record height? 42.6 inches at the whithers, and (get this!) 7 feet, 1 inch tall when standing stretched out on his hind legs. You guessed it – he’s a Great Dane!
Rest in Peace, Gibson.
Until next time,
Good day, and good dog!
A Dog’s Life: Easy or Hard
Many people talk about having a dog’s life – thinking it’s no more complicated than eating, sleeping, and taking the occasional trip outside to the bathroom. But is it really such an easy life? Think of all the things your dog has to remember on a daily basis!
Lost Dog Saves Boy’s Life
PawNation is reporting on a dog who was being fostered after running away from home. While the dog was in foster care, one of his human companions, who happens to have Downs Syndrome, experienced a seizure.
In true Lassie fashion, the dog was able to attract the attention of the boy’s mother and lead her to the boy in time to save his life! Pretty darn impressive!
Read the whole story (much more eloquently told) here.
Kudos to all involved for making the right decisions about the family and the dog!
Until next time,
Good day, and good dog.
Scam Using Your Dog
I saw this in our comments section yesterday, and since not everybody reads the comments, I wanted to post it here. Seems like you can’t even trust people who claim to be Good Samaritans any more. Continue reading Scam Using Your Dog
Saturday Survey: Who Grooms Your Dog?
Talking about the FURminator earlier this week got me thinking about grooming. We take my Golden to be clipped professionally every once in awhile, but the rest of the grooming we do at home. How about you?
The Furminator: God’s gift to shedding dogs?
I was talking to a friend today, and he told me about what he calls a miracle product. He said a friend told him about the Furminator awhile ago, but said it had cost $50 at the pet store. Although my friend John struggles with his German Shepherd’s blowing his coat twice a year, he decided he’d rather vacuum every day than spend $50 to get rid of the problem.
Then, he found the same product on e-bay (new in box) for just $15, so he decided to give it a try. He couldn’t say enough good things about it! According to John, he brushed Harley only twice this spring, and never had to worry about excessive hair around the house.
I’m thinking I’ll have to go buy one now. If you look at their Web site, it’s unbelievable how much hair they got out of the pictured dogs (one of them shown above) with this product, but from what John said, it’s absolutely true!
Have any of you tried the Furminator? What was your experience?
Until next time,
Good day, and good dog!
