Who doesn’t love the Fourth of July? Your dog, that’s who. More dogs disappear from home on Independence Day than on any other day of the year. The fireworks set off this week are more terrifying than even thunderstorms, and in my neighborhood, they’ve already started.

I hope you and your dogs have a safe, fun holiday.

And just because he’s so stinkin’ adorable, I have to share this photo of my friend’s new hunting dog, Nidy’s Midnight Smoken Bleu Shadow.
A great reminder from one of my Facebook friends on taking care of your pets during this extra-noisy season. My dogs have been turned into quivering little puddles of Jell-O with people setting off firecrackers a few days early. Grrrr.
Don’t forget: your dog will be much happier at home than at the fireworks display tonight. More dogs are lost on 4th of July than on any other day. They get really scared and try to escape their terror by running. Home = safety.
Until next time,
Good day, and good dog!
