I couldn’t get Twitter to let me post the video here, but click to watch Brian Williams talk about how the students at Marjorie Stoneman Douglas included their therapy dogs in their yearbook.

Adoptable Greyhounds
From the Facebook page of Ladye Jane Vickers. Thanks, Ms. Vickers, for including the resource list!
Florida voted to ban greyhound racing, so in about a year there will be around 8,000 greys coming off the tracks and 7,000 racers-in-training that all need to find new homes. Ugh.
If you’re thinking about getting a dog, please consider adopting one of these sweet & goofy creatures. The adoption agencies aren’t going to be able to handle the massive influx, so now is the time to get one đź’” Continue reading Adoptable Greyhounds

Preview of AKC National Championship Presented by Royal Canin
It must be “write about dog shows” day. Just after my earlier post, I received this in my in-box from the American Kennel Club.
We are excited to announce that in its 17th year, the AKC National Championship presented by Royal Canin has again drawn the largest entry in the history of the event! Dogs from 50 States and 44 Countries will compete for Best in Show this December. 4,803 dogs are entered this year with more than 1,200 puppies entered to compete in the all-new inaugural AKC/Royal Canin National All-Breed Puppy and Junior Stakes.
I attended this show last year and had a wonderful time. It’s neat to immerse yourself in an all dog all the time kind of world for a weekend.

Sleeping Heroes
“Well it’s 0500 and it’s been coming down pretty hard since about 0330. Had a few tornadoes touch down and the flooding is getting bad. We are all hunkered down in our shelters and I roll over on my make shift cot to see my K9 buddy “hand in paw” with his partner. And Irma rages on.”
