Congratulations to Zurich for his win in the assistance dog category. He helps his person, Patty, with everyday life. She has lost the ability to speak, and Zurich is the only person who understands her at this point.
Zurich had his own health problem several years ago when he developed a cancerous growth. Seems he and Patty have helped each other outlive their doctors’ prognoses.
Roselle is the winner in the guide dog category. She’s a beautiful yellow lab who led her buddy Michael Hingson out of the Twin Towers on 9/11/20o1. Michael states that “Roselle saves my life every day.” What a sweet thought!
Sounds like she is quite a character – Michael tells of how she steals socks and loves to play when she’s not working.
Roselle’s name was retired as a guide dog after September 11th.
Sadie is an arson investigator in Colorado. Who knew it was such a dangerous job? Her handler tells of falling through floors and stepping on boards that have nails still in them.
Handler Jerry Meese is pretty funny! Sadie just laid down on stage, and he commented that she was a “hard-working state employee”.
The show is co-sponsored by the American Humane Association and Caesar Cuisine.
Nice to see so many celebs coming out for the dogs. So far, Betty White, Peter Fonda, Pauley Perrette (follow her on Twitter @PauleyP if you’re not already – she’s a big dog rescuer!)
I’m sorry – I love Queer Eye for the Straight Guy, but Carson Kressley just isn’t tickling my funny bone as host.
First category for the awards: Arson & Law Enforcement Dogs.
