Today’s post features Polly, a Labrador Retriever who lives with Rachel Husband in Sparks, Nevada. “Polly,” officially known as Candylabs’ Pocket Queen CD PCDX RM2 RAE2 CGCA CGCU, is a five-year-old Labrador Retriever owned by Rachel Husband of Sparks, Nevada. Rachel has a rare health condition called Dysautonomia, a disorder of the autonomic nervous system which causes fainting, leaving her wheelchair-bound. AKC Announces 20th annual Humane Fund Awards for Canine Excellence (ACE)
The AKC® Humane Fund is proud to announce the winners of the 20th annual AKC Humane Fund Awards for Canine Excellence (ACE). These awards celebrate five loyal, hard-working dogs that have significantly improved the lives of their owners and communities.
One award is presented in each of the following five categories: Uniformed Service K-9, Therapy, Service, Search and Rescue and Exemplary Companion dog. This year’s winners range from a family pet who teaches fire safety to children throughout the country to a Doberman Pinscher who dedicates his life to search & rescue work despite his own physical disability. No better example of this phenomenon can be found then the one exhibited here by the Blepping Labrapotamus (Canis Moochus Gianormous) and the Yipping Hippie Mouse (Canis Yappus Underfootus) who utilize skillfully choreographed teamwork for the purpose of extracting far more biscuits together than either one could possibly obtain alone. Do you remember Lana the Labrador?
From Fox32 in Chicago:
Lana, a 3-year old yellow Lab, gained fame as the Saddest Dog in the World when a picture of her in her kennel was widely circulated in 2015. She was adopted after that, but was returned to the shelter less than a year later when she snapped at her adoptive mom. Duke Wins Ugly Dog Contest for Second Consecutive Year
Duke, a Labrador Retriever with a skin condition, has won the Del Mar 22nd Annual Ugly Dog Contest. The event not only celebrates ugly dogs, but also raises money for local charities such as the San Diego Food Bank and Rady Children’s Hospital.
